Hi! I'm Melynda, thanks for taking the time to see what I'm all about... I suppose my credentials are a must in this case, beings that this is a real estate brokerage website, but for the most part I'm modest about accomplishments. I like to know more about a person than the standard; "Hi, I'm Harry and I'm a sales agent". For me, it's not what you do for a living that defines you; it's how you live, where you live, what your passion is, what makes you cry and what dreams keep you going. So, that's how we will begin here, with me sharing me...

I was born in Miles City in 1977 to Shannon and Bryan Holmen.

I have one brother, Benjamin Holmen (He's a cool guy...)

I graduated Custer County High School in 1995 and hurried off to Montana State University in Bozeman, MT. Soon, I transferred to Rocky Mountain College of Liberal Arts where I completed a BA in Environmental Studies and a BA in Sociology in 1999. During my studies I fell head over heels for a hot, guitar playing country boy named Sam Hould and married him on the spot! I also accepted two internships; the first was located in Manhattan, NY at the United Nations, and the second was at Makoshika State Park for MT Fish, Wildlife & Parks. Upon graduation my career in the government sector blossomed and soon I was working for the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service at the Fish Technology & Health Center in Bozeman, MT. I loved that job. I would get paid to hike to remote locations in Glacier National Park and assess fish health. The only thing I didn't particularly like about it, was the possibility of something eating me! (Yes, I have Bear-a-noia)

In 2002 Sam and I returned to Miles City to start a family. We chose Miles City because it truly is a great community to raise children. Shortly after the birth of our daughter Emma, I took a sales position for Mullen Realty and thus the beginning of my real estate career. I did well there and enjoyed the flexibility of the job. In 2007 I opened Hometown Real Estate with the help of three dear friends; Jean Craycroft, Rick Newby & Nicole Friend. We had a blast together and built a thriving business. My nuclear family grew to four with the addition of another daughter, Haley. In 2010 I sold everything but the name to Integrity Realty and took a three year family orientated sabatical. Which brings us to the reopening of Hometown Real Estate 2014.

In the fall of 2015 my husband and I separated and divorced. It's OK, things are actually better. I purchased a new house and I'm glad I did because it was an acute reminder for me what a buyers' mindset is during a transaction!

Just recently Hometown purchased a new office building and survived the remodel. Whew!  We've brought in another experienced Broker and a new agent. As if I didn't have enough on my plate, I added Badlands Property Management as part of our services offered.  Our office continues to gain momentum as the years go by thanks to our loyal clients and their great reviews.
